Take control of your Scope 3 carbon emissions

Knowing where
to start

Carbon footprint assessment can be overwhelming at first.

Before starting our environmental assessement and footprint calculations, we help you identify the major issues and priorities for data collection – based on our extensive experience in the sector.

Navigating the data complexity

Your data is not 100% complete and consistent? No worries.

Our carbon experts are here to support with data requests both internally and externally. When the data is not available, we provide tailored modelling and extrapolations to fill the gaps.

Getting the calculations
right

Calculating your environmental impact is a complex process.

To break free from inaccurate spend-based estimations, we support you with our profound knowledge of your products and activities. From the industry, for the industry.

From carbon measurement to your tailored decarbonisation roadmap

ÖBB
Efficient Carbon Footprinting Tool

During a 3-month collaboration with Austria‘s leading rail operator (ÖBB) a tailored tool was provided to efficiently and accurately assess their Company Carbon Footprint (CCFP) and prioritize efforts towards improving it.

Using the combined expertise of TU Graz (AUT) and eolos, the tool ranked the main CO2 emitters of Scopes 1-3 and identified areas for more detailed data collection in the future. Workshops were also conducted with the responsible departments of ÖBB to further explain the methodology and ensure adherence internally.

eolos experts guided the data collection efforts and highlighted the most important CO2 emitters, improving the accuracy of Scope 1- 3 accounting over time. As a result, ÖBB is empowered to better understand, measure and manage their carbon footprint.

Locomotive Lessor
Detailed Scope 3 Carbon Footprint

During a 6-month collaboration with a major locomotive lesser, a full Company Carbon Footprint (CCFP) was provided, offering a granular view of emissions from each locomotive and related activities, based on partial recorded information.

To comply with GHG Protocol and other reporting standards, the client’s Scope 1&2 assessment was audited in a first step. Subsequently, the first assessment of scope 3 emissions was conducted including LCA expertise on railway systems. The assessment was granular on the level of each locomotive, extrapolating from partial Railster data, with a final uncertainty under 20%.

Action levers were identified, leading to an asset purchasing strategy that incorporated business strategy targets along with environmental objectives. The GHG Protocol-compliant CCPF report included all assumptions and result analysis to ensure that the assessment was duplicatable internally.

Although the Carbon accounting is now conducted internally, eolos experts are still involved for auditing assessments and specific modelling requests.

Public Operator
Responsible Sourcing Best Practice

During a 3-month collaboration with a major French public operator, we analyzed eco-responsible purchasing practices in the railway and industrial sectors. Our aim was to provide actionable recommendations aligned with our client’s group CSR strategy.

To gather those best practices, we conducted more than 15 interviews and analyzed about 20 European companies in the railway and industrial sectors, including operators, OEMs, system suppliers, and French public service actors. From this research, we created a list of 10 actionable recommendations to be used by our client to engage actors of the whole value chain, internally and externally.

In the past, eolos has conducted similar types of benchmark for companies in the Railway sector, Electrical & Electronics, Maritime and other industrial goods.

Hager Group
Actionable Decarbonisation Roadmap

During a 3-month collaboration with Hager Group, a tailored and actionable roadmap with achievable and fair sustainability targets was provided. This was realized by assessing and projecting over 10 years the emissions from 20 production plants across 9 countries, considering business growth expectations and electricity grid decarbonization.

Based on these projections, our team established emissions reduction targets that complied with SBTi standards and aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives. To create an actionable roadmap, we collaborated with NALDEO, an industrial specialist in energy transition to quantify the costs and emission potentials of the recommended changes. The resulting roadmap incorporated both internal and external initiatives that were relevant to the organization.

In parallel to this mission, eolos experts developed a tool to assess the prospective environmental impact(s) of displacing a production line from a country to another.
